To Be Exact
by Pat SaumTO BE EXACT It is 4:45 in the afternoon
And I am feeling the heavy weight of your absence.
It's that and so many other things
Like the brother of one of your friends
I saw in the grocery store
as I came to the checkout counter
with 4 roses hand selected by your sister.
He kidded me about buying roses,
not realizing they were for you (or should I say your grave site).
Or the three people who did remember to call
but forgot which day you died.
It was August 16th and it was 3:20PM
AND
it was 89 degrees
AND
I was wearing a denim shirt
with a red tie
and khaki pants
